The Attic Bar and Restaurant in Mission Bay is Auckland's Number One GastroPub - meaning we serve the very best in fine food and beverages in a relaxed and comfortable setting. Our food is New Zealand inspired using the very best of fresh ingredients. We produce meals that are satisfying, complete and healthy by themselves without the need for extra sides or courses. These are meals you will recognise but could/would never produce at home. The biggest problem is deciding which mouth watering dish to select. And to make it truly perfect, all our meals are very reasonably priced from $18 to $32.

The welcome was great when we arrived at the restaurant.

The waitress was kind and smiling. She told us about the menu suggested particular meals to us. She checked on us sometimes to see if we needed something and if everything was good for us. And she took her time to explain the menu. It was very nice from her.

Squid: The starter was great. Not too much oil. Good presentation. Cooked to perfection. I think it's enough for 2 or 3 people.

Fish market of the day: The presentation was so great. Under the fish there were vegetables, and under the vegetables you can find the rice. I think the rice was too much for me. The fish was cooked to perfection with crispy skin on the top (crunchy). The vegetables were also nice. The rice was a little bit salty for me but taste was very good. I didn't realise, there is a lot of rice!

Dessert: OMG better than French hahaha...The almond and pear frangipane hhhuuummm so nice. PERFECT...

The music there was good, not too loud. You feel welcome. The place is friendly, you can relax too... Good place to eat!

Right from the time we walked into the restaurant to the time we stepped foot outside, we had a great night at the Attic Bar & Restaurant! I seriously cannot stop raving about this place to my friends so I thought I better write a review on here too!

The waitress went through the menu with us, making suggestions along the way. She said their salt and pepper calamari was their most popular dish and she suggested that we had that to share as our starter. I am very happy she said to share as it was MASSIVE! Both of us girls were getting quite full after that bowl. It was absolutely amazing. I was afraid that it would be oily (like most calamari) but it came out crunchy and fresh. There were two dipping sauces with it too.

Our waitress guessed our next meals. She suggested my friend take the fish (which is what she was going to order) and for me to take the pork belly. It was DIVINE! It was accompanied with Kumara Puree, and perfect vegetables. The belly was succulent, crunchy and everything you could hope for in a good belly! Oh and the presentation was amazing.

We then decided to share a dessert - Pear and Almond Frangipane. Now, by this time, we were both VERY full but we had to give it a go. The first bite was to die for. Accompanied with Vanilla Bean ice-cream, it was the best ending to our night.

We had to be rolled out of there after eating so much delicious food! And the service was fantastic. The staff were smiling, keeping busy and always checking up to see if we needed anything or to see how we were going. They take time to explain the menu and they are happy to do so.

I highly recommend The Attic Bar & Restaurant!
